Good morning. I hope everyone is well. We have opened a new Discussion on the Committee’s Portal within the RBA Forums entitled, CHIP 2020 and COVID-19. The purpose of this thread is to provide an opportunity for the Committee to talk about how COVID-19 will influence the content of CHIP 2020, e.g. Will there be new CHIP strategies as a result of COVID-19?
The Discussion Thread is also a segue into the larger Discussion of the how future CHIPs will be affected by future pandemics. The premise of this larger Discussion is based in the scientific literature that describes an increasing destruction of natural habitats from climate change combined with human settlement encroachment that increases the risk of viruses jumping from small mammals such as rats and bats to humans. When the risk is viewed in light of the extent of international travel, it is easy to see the likelihood of recurring pandemics for the for seeable future.
The Discussion Thread will remain open indefinitely. A question regarding how to include COVID-19 in our CHIP 2020 Discussion will be posted by the Committee Chair every couple of weeks to aid in the Discussion.
The Phase 3 Discussion Thread remains open indefinitely.
